Emergency Library Closing Policy

Adopted January 9, 2010

 

The library will close in emergency situations when the health or safety of staff and patrons may be at risk. Examples of situations that would warrant emergency closings include inclement weather or serious problems with building maintenance such as no heat or a gas leak.

The decision to close will be a collaborative decision made between the library director and a designated board member, taking into consideration the advice of the Village of Winneconne Public Works Director or other prominent village officials, depending on the situation.

Library closings will be announced on the following broadcast stations:

Staff members who were scheduled to work on a day that the library closes for an emergency will be allowed to make up missed time within two weeks after the day of the incident.
